The brief

The work and the intended result

Our assembly team exports the same production report every morning. We want an internal browser interface showing output, scrap, downtime and shift comparison for one line. The first version reads a manually uploaded CSV using a frozen column contract and supports date and shift filters. Include two UI reviews and a handover session. Live machine connections, user accounts, cloud hosting and changes to the source system are excluded.

What you’ll deliver

  • One responsive dashboard with four agreed charts and two filters
  • CSV validation with readable messages for missing columns and malformed rows
  • A sample dataset, automated checks for the four metric calculations and a reconciliation sheet
  • Source code, a local setup guide and a 45-minute handover

Expertise needed

  • Experience building usable dashboards for technical or operational teams
  • Ability to explain aggregation choices and missing-data handling
  • Accessible chart labels and a table alternative for the displayed metrics
  • TypeScript
  • Technical dashboards
  • Data engineering
  • API development

A running start

What’s already in place

  • An anonymised CSV export and a frozen column dictionary
  • The current spreadsheet calculations and ten expected summary values
  • A team lead to review the layout and metric definitions

Project milestones

To shape together
  1. 01

    Agree the numbers

Reconcile the four metric definitions against the ten supplied reference values.

  2. 02

    Build the working dashboard

Implement upload validation, charts and filters against the agreed file format.

  3. 03

    Review and hand over

Close two UI review rounds and demonstrate that malformed files produce useful errors without changing existing results.

To agree before starting

A shared definition of done

Confirm the deliverables, review checks and response window together so everyone knows what a successful handover looks like.

Suggested acceptance criteria

  • Every agreed deliverable is included in the handover, in the agreed file formats.
  • Assumptions, limitations and open questions are documented alongside the work.
  • The project owner reviews the work against the brief and returns one consolidated feedback list before approval.

When the scope changes

Record the requested change, its reason and its effect on deliverables, budget and timing. Both parties agree the revised scope in writing before the additional work begins.
